Purple Toning Shampoo with Bond Building Technology for Blonde and Grey Hair
Olaplex Nr.4P Blonde Enhancer is a violet-pigmented shampoo built around the brand's Bond Building active, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. The Acid Violet 43 pigment neutralises yellow and brassy tones in blonde, lightened, highlighted and grey hair, while the bond-rebuilding chemistry works against the everyday damage that comes from colour and heat. The surfactant base is SLS/SLES-free and built from mild sulfonate and amphoteric cleansers so the lather cleans without stripping tone.
Why Choose It?
- Violet pigment (Acid Violet 43) neutralises yellow and brassy tones in blonde, highlighted and grey hair
- Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate — Olaplex Bond Building active repairs broken disulfide bonds from colour and heat
- SLS/SLES-free surfactant base with cocamidopropyl betaine and sodium cocoamphoacetate cleanses without stripping tone
- Glycerin and betaine humectants help the wash leave hair feeling conditioned rather than squeaky
- Vegan, colour-safe, dermatologist tested; free from silicones, sulfates (SLS/SLES), phthalates, phosphates, MIC/MIT, parabens and protein per brand
Best For
Blonde, highlighted, balayage, bleached and grey or white hair where unwanted yellow or brassy tones develop between salon visits. Also suitable for chemically processed hair more generally — the bond-building chemistry is the same one used across the full Olaplex range.
Use as your regular shampoo whenever the hair starts to look brassy — typically 1-3 washes per week. For the brand's full toning system, follow up with the matching Olaplex Nr.5P Blonde Enhancer toning conditioner.
- Wet hair thoroughly with warm water.
- Apply a generous amount of shampoo, focusing on the most brassy areas (usually mid-lengths to ends).
- Massage into a lather across scalp and lengths.
- Leave the lather on for 2 minutes so the violet pigment can deposit evenly.
- For very yellow or stubborn brassiness, leave for up to 5 minutes — check tone in the mirror before rinsing.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear, then follow with conditioner.
Tips
- Start with shorter processing times — 2 minutes is the brand baseline. Over-toning can leave a temporary lilac cast on very porous or freshly bleached hair.
- Rinse hands and the shower surround promptly — the violet pigment is concentrated and can transient-stain.
- Rotate with a non-toning shampoo between uses if you only want subtle correction, or use Nr.4P every wash for the strongest cool result.
