Violet toning shampoo that cancels brassy yellow in blonde, silver and bleached hair
Cool Silver Shampoo from REF is a sulphate-free violet shampoo built around CI 60730 (Ext. Violet 2). The pigment deposits a thin violet veil on the cuticle during the wash; on the colour wheel violet sits opposite yellow, so the warm tones that build up in lightened, grey and sun-faded hair read visually neutral. Gentle coco- and amino-acid based surfactants clean without the harsh detergent feel of SLS, and the formula is vegan.

Best For

Use 1–3 times a week in place of your regular shampoo, depending on how warm the hair pulls. On very porous or freshly bleached hair start with shorter leave-on times to gauge deposit.
- Wet hair thoroughly with lukewarm water
- Work a coin-sized amount through scalp and lengths until a soft violet lather forms
- Leave on for 3–5 minutes so the pigment can adhere to the cuticle
- Rinse fully with cool water to seal the cuticle for shine
- Follow with a moisture conditioner or mask, because toning shampoos do not condition on their own
Tips
- If hair runs very brassy, alternate Cool Silver with your regular shampoo rather than using it daily
- Wear gloves if you tone often — violet pigment can stain fingertips and porous surfaces
- Always pair with a conditioner or mask after — toning wash bases are not formulated to moisturise
